Jana + Jeff | Wedding at Mclean Gardens Ballroom

Jana and Jeff's Greek and Jewish wedding in DC and McLean Gardens Ballroom was one of our favorite 2016 weddings. There was so much love, romance and emotion at this wedding and we are so happy that we got to photograph their special day. I personally really enjoyed shooting at McLean Gardens Ballroom which is located in Washington DC and their first look photos turned out amazing. If you are looking for an elegant and historic wedding venues in DC The Fairfax Embassy Suites and McLean Gardens Ballroom should definitely be on your list. They are both metro accessible and have a lot to offer. Parking can be a little tricky at The Fairfax Embassy Suites but Ballroom has street parking available. Your DC wedding photographers are going to enjoy shooting candid moments at these locations.

What to Wear for Family Portraits

What to Wear for Family Portraits

Sometimes it is a daunting task to pick on what to wear to family portraits. What color should you go with? How will we coordinate but not appear match-match? This post will give you some helpful tips that you may want to consider as you prepare for the fabulous family pictures.

Chose the color scheme

The first thing to put in mind when deciding on the color to wear is where you intend to hang the portrait in the house and the colors of that room. Of course there are some people who will see no difference with this. But in case your room has a red and black paint, orange and brown will not be a good choice to consider.

You can have a natural home which is neutralized by lots of color accents from the pictures. If you happen to be a person who adds portraits from time and again, you can decide on what to wear for family portrait by looking at the present ones.

Begin with a piece and construct progressively

When you are not sure of the colors to pick for a photo shoot, always start with a piece and make up all the rest around it. You may start with a boy’s plaid shirt or little girl’s floral dress, as long as you get a single central piece around which you build all the rest. Considering that most parents prefer their kids being at the focal point, this little piece should be that of a child (not and adult). That is not to imply they will be the ones standing out from all the others, after accessorizing you will all blend together.

Do not forget the accessories

Hats, ties, button up shirt, scarf, headband, necklace and accessories all have the effect of adding fun, texture, pizzazz and thus improving the overall look. When it comes to dressing the children, try to see to it that they get different accessories. For instance, if you have two girls, they should not all use yellow headbands. You may consider one blue and the other yellow to have the colors spread out.

Split the colors

If your family has a total of six members and you have three main colors to use, make sure all these colors are not at the top or all the people who use them are closer to each other age-wise. Split out the colors so that they do not concentrate at one point and bring out the old-fashioned match-match effect.

Split the pairs

In case you have natural pairs in the family: brothers and sisters, mom and baby, mom and dad, split them by splitting their colors since, they will likely stand close to each other. If there is a baby, mom will without doubt be holding him or her and thus the baby becomes mom’s pair. It is a good thing if they don’t dress alike. Obviously, wife and husband are the other pair. Effort has then to be made to ensure they do not become matchy-matchy. Handling this part is tricky and concentration to details will be a necessity.

Why Should You Hire a Professional Photographer for Your Wedding?

Wedding day is one of the most important and memorable days of anyone’s life. Both the bride and the groom want everything to be perfect and there is not supposed to be any imperfection regarding arrangements. Whether you are a bride or a groom, you will be equally responsible for all the arrangements because after all, it’s your big day as a couple! Photography is an enormous part of the wedding day, so it is essential to take as much photographs as possible and capture each and every moment. Therefore, there is a great need for a person or even a team to capture all of these unique wedding moments in a professional manner.

Plenty of your friends and relatives will be taking pictures at the ceremony; some may even have a professional camera, but this alone cannot complete the job. They will be there at your wedding ceremony to enjoy the event, so they won’t be able to cover each and every moment. On the other hand, if you hire a professional photographer, he or she will definitely do the job well because after all, this is the job of the photographer! All of the responsibility will be on him not to miss any of the memorable events. He can also bring 2-3 people with him as assistants because sometimes several important events occur simultaneously which need to be captured at the same time. A professional photographer at your wedding would surely be better at photography than an ordinary guest. This is because it is his profession and he has a lot of knowledge about his job. Even if one of your friends is quite good at photography, there would still be some difficulties faced by him. Moreover, every professional photographer knows about the modern photographic techniques, poses and other details much better than your average guest.

A professional photographer would have better quality DSLRs and a variety of lenses that can be used according to the requirements. There is also a trend of doing a photo-shoot at the beginning of the wedding ceremony which involves only the bride and the groom. This job would be done in a better way by a professional photographer because he knows about the poses and lighting, and he has got the guts to manage all the time by attending so many functions.

When you hire a professional photographer, he gives you a complete package and thus you never have to worry about the photography section because it is his job entirely. After the wedding comes to an end, the photographer delivers you the pictures in their best form after proper editing and placing them in fine and aesthetic albums. It becomes quite feasible for you to hire a photographer for your wedding. All these reasons explain that you must look for a good and well-known professional photographer who will make the wedding an even more pleasant experience for you and present you the most natural and high-quality pictures at reasonable rates.

How to choose an elegant wedding dress on a budget

How to choose an elegant wedding dress on a budget

Time and detailed commitment are one of the key elements to consider while planning an elegant wedding. But it is still a possibility to have a beautiful wedding without stretching your budget. That will involve you picking the important things wisely and investing in them. One such is the wedding dress. Yes, you can get an elegant wedding dress on a budget. That will require you to do some few things as highlighted in this post.

Be realistic

Be sure that you know all the designers and styles that are found within your budget. If you lack this information, you risk falling prey to scams. For instance, it is a fantasy to assume that a $5000 Vera can be bought at $300. If you see that a price is discounted too low than it can be, then exercise caution with such a wedding dress.

Be fully alert while shopping online

Do you buy to the idea that shopping online for a wedding dress will save you some dollars? Well, consider that again. Online shopping opens avenues for so many scams and the source of wedding rip-offs. You may order something online, only for you to get an entirely different-looking item.

It is much better to shop at local salon and bargain for a price within your budget. The good thing with salons is that most of them have money-back guarantee, a sale rack and an in-house tailor to help you out if you are unhappy. Most online scams will not reply to your emails or even pick phone calls.

Lookout for clearance sales from local salons

Each store has sale merchandise. There is none in the world that does not have sales. Most manufacturers do stop making their products on a yearly basis. In order to get these products from the stores and have new ones, they use clearance sales. Such is a great time to purchase a wedding dress.

Buy when off-season wedding

Most wedding dresses bought when it’s a wedding season tend to be more expensive than those bought in off-season. If you buy one between October and March, chances are you will get large discounts. If you decide to do the purchase between May and September, then you may want to buy on Friday or Sunday. Most weddings come on Saturdays, so these days pose as the best to get better discounts to help you get a wedding dress within your budget.

Utilize national holidays for great bargains

Shopping holiday’s sales is one way you can be guaranteed of low prices from genuine online stores. Products sold on holidays like Labor Day, Memorial Day and Black Friday and sometimes Christmas tend to be inexpensive than the normal days.

Get ready to pay up front

Save the sufficient amount of money before you go to shop because some shops will give you discounts if you pay in full. You can learn more about a company’s discount details by visiting its website.

Why Should You Print Your Wedding Photos?

Why Should You Print Your Wedding Photos?

After the wedding is over and you start a new life with your partner, there are some things that should always be restored in the minds and hearts of both of you. Some of the memories should always be recalled and you should talk about them with others every once in a while. One of the best memories is indeed your wedding day. At the end of this beautiful day, the cake gets eaten, the lights get turned off, the DJ stops the music and all the guests return to their houses; but all these moments are captured in the form of pictures. In the picture, the flowers remain fresh throughout the lifetime and the cake remains uncut. Some of these precious moments should not just be captured but they should also be printed and arranged in an album so that all these memories can be recalled by you at any moment.

It’s good to keep the soft copy as well, but there should be one or two albums of the masterpieces that you can watch whenever you want to think about that day along with your partner. You can also show them to your friends or relatives who could not attend the wedding. Even if they attended the wedding, they would still love to check out the printouts and complement your photos. Another interesting thing about printing out your wedding pictures is that you can hang them in your home, giving off a fragrance of memories. You can get a variety of different styled frames and keep your printed photos in those frames as well. They can either be hung on the walls, kept on your side table, or anywhere else you would want to see them. Years after your wedding, you would surely enjoy watching those printouts more than the soft copies. Your children would also like to check out the photos of their parents together on their wedding day.

There are different options for you that can be arranged according to your liking. You can purchase a large printout of your favorite romantic pose and hang it over your bed to keep reminding you and your partner about your love and loyalty for each other. There are lots of printing companies that can help you get your wedding pictures printed at high quality. They can also provide you different printing options regarding the designs of the frames, the color patterns and the settings of the pictures.

If you display the albums of the printed pictures in a place such as your living room, they must be arranged carefully so that every guest can admire the pictures when he or she enters your home and can have an overview of all the best memories of that big day. It will help them relive those happy moments each time they see them.
